Faculty Intensives: "Good Teaching Doesn't Just Happen"

NEW/UPDATED 2020

What is the benefit of this course?

This series of online hybrid NLN faculty intensive courses are designed to prepare faculty entering the academic nurse educator environment or our experienced nurse educators looking to enhance their existing faculty knowledge and skills to successfully work within this contemporary nursing education movement.

Overview of Course

Today’s nursing education environment requires a contemporary approach to teaching and learning with methodologies and faculty-student relationships that will enhance and develop our future nurses. New models of teaching and learning that address critical thinking, clinical decision making, and clinical judgment is fast becoming a standard part of nursing curricula.

Nurse educators will work independently in asynchronous modules followed by a virtual online 4-hour synchronous session providing more context, immersion and conversation with NLN faculty consultants. These synchronous sessions are an opportunity to experience excellence in teaching and engage with other nurse educators across the country. There are a total of 9 asynchronous modules and 3 synchronous sessions over a 12-week period. There is a 1-hour synchronous session at the opening of the Intensives online to orient you to the learning platform and familiarize you with the course.

What you will learn

Faculty Intensives is meant to be both an example as well as an immersion into the art and science of teaching nursing education. View the learning outcomes for all 12 modules.
